  • Red wine - Tasca d'Almerita - Cygnus 21.0046.50

Its name is linked to the family history. Homage to Richard Wagner, who in 1881 in the garden of Villa Tasca in Palermo completed the drafting of the third act of "Parsifal", inspired by the swans that lived in the pond. A selection of Nero d'Avola from the high hills and Cabernet Sauvignon together to show the potential of the Sicilian grape variety and the elegance and austerity of the international variety.

  • Red wine - Tasca d'Almerita - La monaca Monreale D.O.C. 25.0060.00

Vigna La Monaca, two hectares planted in 2011 at an altitude of 320 m a.s.l., is characterised by a soil with a more sandy texture (37.4% of sand and 12.5% of clay), which is well aerated, very draining and therefore drier, making the vines less vigorous. The north-eastern exposure ensures good luminosity but less influence from the hot summer temperatures; this means that in the hottest and driest years the vine suffers less, maintaining constant ripening. The presence of active limestone facilitates the development of aromas and the wealth of potassium favours the accumulation of sugars, aromas and anthocyanins. The low vigour, low productivity and the characteristics of the soil are favourable for a balanced and complete ripening of the grapes, more suitable for structured red wines with long ageing. The training system is espalier, with Guyot pruning and a density of 4600 vines per hectare.

  • Red wine - Tasca d'Almerita - Vigna San Francesco cabernet sauvignon 46.0095.00

San Francesco is the vineyard that represents the emblem of our work at Regaleali, the incessant research and innovation of our team to improve the quality of our wines. Planted in 1985 by Lucio Tasca, it was divided into two different portions due to the nature of the soil. The higher part, on the south-eastern slope of the Canalotto valley, at an altitude of between 532 and 585 metres, was reserved for Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil is made up of sand and sandstone of variable grain, the texture is partly clayey and calcareous, with a slightly alkaline pH (8.3). It is a moderately deep soil, in which the development of the vine root system is abundant in the first 60 centimetres and more moderate up to one metre deep. It has a normal organic substance content and is rich in minerals such as magnesium and potassium, while it is poor in phosphorous. The vines are planted at a spacing of 2.60 by 1.1 metres (3,490 plants per hectare). The training system is espalier, with short spurred cordon pruning. Cabernet Sauvignon is a late variety, with a very long vegetative arc. The grapes are hand-picked by expert vine-dressers who are able to select the bunches already in the vineyard, and the harvest takes place on average between mid-September and the first ten days of October.

  • Red wine - Tasca d'Almerita - Contrada Sciaranuova 48.00

  • Red wine - Tasca d'Almerita - Rosso del conte 49.50111.00

San Lucio is the first large vineyard identified on the Regaleali Estate, from which the first and subsequent editions of Rosso del Conte were born. It covers about 7 hectares, 5.5 of which were planted in 1959 with mixed Perricone and Nero d'Avola vines, while a portion of about 1.5 hectares was planted in 1965 with Nero d'Avola alone. The altitude is 480 metres above sea level, with a south-southeast exposure. The soil is yellowish brown, loamy-sandy, partly calcareous, with a slight presence of skeleton; the pH is slightly alkaline (8.5). Regaleali's oldest vineyard usually confers medium vigour to the vines, a prerequisite for balanced ripening of red and medium-late grapes. It is able to withstand the influence of extreme climates, whether hot or cold, and produces a few grams of grapes per plant, with incredible constancy in quality. It is bush-trained, the oldest and most widespread form of cultivation in the semi-arid regions of the Mediterranean. The planting density also remains classic, at 4,400 vines per hectare, obtained by arranging the vines at a distance of 1.5 metres from each other. At Regaleali, short pruning is adopted for red varieties, with three/four spurs of two buds.
Short pruning is often combined with the presence of a brace to tie off the shoots that develop from the spurs.
The two varieties, Perricone and Nero d'Avola, have a similar vegetative cycle: they are fairly late grapes, ripening on average between late September and early October. A faithful expression of the terroir from which it comes, the high hills in the centre of Sicily, on an aromatic level Rosso del Conte never exceeds over-ripe notes, while guaranteeing full phenolic ripeness. Exuberant, vibrant, energetic in its youth, with ageing it develops a velvety tactile relief, without losing tone and taste progression. In its long history it has known various stylistic variations, particularly in the ageing technique: chestnut barrels, Slavonian oak, small French oak barrels. All the while maintaining its peculiar identity.

  • Red wine - Tasca d`Almerita - Riserva del conte 2016 165.00

San Lucio is the first Great Vineyard identified on the Regaleali Estate. Cultivated using the alberello system, it appears like a work of art, an avant-garde installation. Walking inside the San Lucio vineyard is essential to understand its value; every vine that makes it up tells you about time, as only wise old men know how to do. Regaleali's oldest vineyard has an incredible constancy of quality: it produces only a few grams per plant, but is able to resist the influence of extreme climates.

From the same vineyard, Riserva del Conte returned in 2010 after 40 years.
The 2016 edition, the result of an analytically and organoleptically perfect vintage, also comes from the San Lucio vineyard, with the same blend of Perricone and Nero d'Avola. And as in the past, in a call to its origins, it is aged in 500-litre chestnut barrels.
The result is a powerful wine, austere in its youth thanks to its firm tannins. A collector's wine, in only 7048 bottles, that pays homage to the challenge that Count Giuseppe Tasca d'Almerita set himself in 1959: to make a Sicilian wine capable of competing with the top of world wine production.

  • Rosé wine - Tasca d'Almerita - Madamarosè syrah 13.5041.00

The Tenuta Grande vineyard has a loamy soil texture (26.8% sand and 22.5% clay), capable of retaining moisture for a long time, which gives the vines greater vigour. The western exposure ensures coolness and brightness during the summer season. The magnesium/potassium ratio is particularly well balanced, favouring the metabolism of sugars and proteins, as well as the accumulation of chlorophyll pigments and carotenes. The increased vigour of the vine shifts the ripening of the grapes towards a cooler quality, less alcoholic and with less structure, more suitable for fresh vintage wines and rosé wines. The training system is espalier, with Guyot pruning and a density of 4,166 vines per hectare.

  • White wine - Tasca d`Almerita - Mozia grillo 32.0062.00

The soils of the island of Mozia derive from seabed of marine origin. They are sandy and loose soils. The presence of limestone is important, which causes an alkaline reaction in the soil (pH 8.2) and influences the organoleptic characteristics of the grapes.
The depth of the soil allows the sapling to develop properly. The 'Marsala style' pruning is the most appropriate for Grillo, given the low fertility at the base of the shoot. Harvesting, slightly ahead of ideal ripeness, preserves some acidity to maintain the freshness of the sip and the longevity that the white of Mozia has demonstrated over the years.

The weather on the island of Mozia was characterised by a cool spring, with good rainfall in March that ensured a good water supply to the vines throughout the production cycle. Summer was very hot and dry, but well tolerated by the alberello, the typical form of cultivation of Grillo vines on the island of Mozia.

The harvest began on 18 August, starting with the young Khoton vineyard, and continued until 28 August with the harvest from the Eastern Steps vineyards.
Perfect ripeness and health of the grapes, good sugar content and excellent structure and aromaticity of the wine.

  • White wine - Tasca d'Almerita - Nozze d'oro 29.0065.00

In 1984, Count Giuseppe Tasca d'Almerita decided to celebrate 50 years of marriage to his wife Franca with a wine that would tell the story of the family and the estate. The uniqueness of the varietal composition is the sign of its romanticism, born from Inzolia and Tasca Sauvignon, a selection from a vineyard present at Regaleali since the end of the First World War. The use of selected yeasts from our own vineyards binds this wine even more indissolubly to its terroir. Fresh at a young age and capable of unsuspected longevity, balancing tertiary aromas with fruit intensity.

  • White wine - Tasca d'Almerita - Vigna San Francesco chardonnay 45.0091.00

One of the most stimulating challenges for the company's managers. The project to create a wine of superior quality and rank using the most celebrated and widely planted white grape variety was born in the mid-1980s. The San Francesco vineyard was planted in 1985 by Lucio Tasca, in the lowest portion of the slope, on a soil that is more fertile than the average Regaleali due to a deeper active layer and greater freshness, due to less rainwater drainage.
The clonal material comes partly from Burgundy. The plot covers about 5 hectares, with a planting pattern of 2.60 metres by 1.20 metres (3,200 plants per hectare), at an altitude between 520 and 532 metres. The substratum of origin is clayey-sandy sediment, the texture is loamy-clayey, weakly calcareous, with a slightly alkaline reaction (pH 8.1). It is a thick, well-structured soil, but the roots do not exceed a depth of 70 centimetres.
The soil has a normal organic substance content and is rich in mineral salts, magnesium and potassium in particular, with a good amount of phosphorous. The vines are espalier-trained, with a double Guyot training system.
The grapes are fermented in 350-litre French oak barrels, with batonnage daily for the first 10-15 days, then weekly for the remaining 8 months of ageing. Chardonnay is a very early variety and at Regaleali it usually reaches maturity between late August and early September, with little variation from vintage to vintage. In 1985, Lucio Tasca d'Almerita decided to confront the world's most celebrated white grape variety. After an initial experimentation with rooted cuttings that had also arrived from Burgundy, he planted 5 hectares of Chardonnay on the lower part of the San Francesco hill, at an altitude of around 500 metres, with rich soils originating from sediments of fluvial origin suitable for structured white grapes. Capable of combining the more savoury and fresh side with good balance.

Viticulture on this slope has a very ancient history and the Portale family has preserved its original identity characteristics for several generations. It is thanks to the resourcefulness of Notary Ferdinando Portale that the structures were modernised with the transformation of the ancient sapling into espalier, a system that manages to combine modern viticultural techniques with the vegetative-productive peculiarities of nerello mascalese, the Etna variety par excellence.

The vineyards lie on south-facing terraces at an altitude of between 650 and 800 metres.

The peculiarities of Tenuta Masseria Setteporte's wine can be summed up in its elegance and bouquet, combined with exceptional drinkability.

  • White wine -Firriato- Le sabbie dell'Etna bianco doc 14.88

Le Sabbie dell'Etna Bianco is a wine that is rightfully part of Firriato's history. A pioneer label in the oenology of the Vulcano, it encapsulates the qualities of Carricante and Catarratto, the two symbolic varieties of Etna viticulture. A completely different terroir from the rest of Sicily, with its cold winters and less intense sunlight. The grapes enjoy slower ripening and the berries are enriched with their perfumed scents in a more linear manner. Freshness and fragrance characterise this wine, along with a persistent savoury line. Le Sabbie dell'Etna Bianco captivates with the olfactory and gustatory suggestions it brings with it. The volcanic soil characterised by a high drainage capacity gives the grapes, and subsequently the wine, a peculiar minerality enriched by the aromatic qualities of the Carricante, which in vinification gives elegant nuances of white fruit, and the sustained structure brought by the Catarratto.

Favinia La Muciara comes from the indigenous Grillo, Catarratto and Zibibbo grapes grown in the Calamoni vineyard on the island of Favignana. It is a wine that reflects the soul of this unique and extreme territory. In fact, the grapes are cultivated at sea level, only 10 metres from the vineyard, which rests on layers of quaternary biocalcarenite, stratified over the centuries according to sedimentation rhythms of about half a metre. Among Calamoni's agronomic practices, Firriato uses posidonia as a natural fertiliser for the vineyard. The wind carries the dried leaves of this marine plant from the sea, giving the vines their nutritional components. The Mediterranean breeze also creates a marine aerosol action that gives the wine a distinctive brackish note enveloped in elegant aromatic notes.

  • Tasca d`Almerita - Capofaro Malvasia 37.50

From the 'Anfiteatro' vineyard, 50 metres above sea level, with soil characterised by a loose, sandy texture resulting from the degradation of ancient lava sediments. Despite its high porosity, the soil has good water retention. Limestone is absent and the reaction is sub-acidic with pH 6.5.
The soil is generally poor in nutrients and organic matter, which is easily degraded due to its porous structure and warm climate. To remedy the deficiency, annual green manure of leguminous plants is practised, which enriches the soil with organic substance and nitrogen. On the other hand, the presence of microelements, which are fundamental for the quality of the grapes, is good.
In the vineyard, we try to have a large leaf area to cover the bunches, so as to avoid scorching the grapes and ensure aromaticity. The training system is generally espalier, but in a small terrace we also have 240 bush-trained plants. The new plots have a spacing of 2 metres between rows and 1 metre between plants (5,000 plants/hectare). Pruning is Guyot type, with very long shoots (12-14 buds) to favour the production of Malvasia, but also to compensate for bud breakage caused by strong sea winds. The grapes ripen, generally in the first ten days of September, and dehydrate slowly, maintaining good acidity and a fair alcohol content.
We like the integrity of the fruit and rather than drying the grapes in the sun, we do it in the shade, favouring the dehydration process without losing the varietal notes contained in the delicate skin.

Le Sabbie dell'Etna Rosso is, together with its white variant, the progenitor of Firriato's decades-long production on Etna. The wines of the Tenuta di Cavanera Etnea Estate are elitist by birth and dedicated to exclusivity. Labels designed for and dedicated to the most demanding winelovers. Le Sabbie dell'Etna Rosso reveals itself in the glass with a delicious and complex bouquet with notes of cinnamon, black pepper, blackcurrant and cherries in spirit. Only the extraordinary terroir of Etna's northern slope, on the slopes of Europe's largest active volcano, could generate this wine with great personality. The volcanic soils of the estate are characterised by a high concentration of nutrients such as phosphorous, which determines the concentration of sugars in the must, manganese, which increases the plant's ability to defend itself from the cold, and iron, which contributes to the pigmentation of the black berry varieties, determining the brilliant colour of the grapes of the indigenous Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio.
